Variety is the Spice of Life! Dawn on the Farm Chicken snacks & supplements offer balanced nutrition and are fun to eat. No added fillers, only natural preservatives and wholesome whole grains with a touch of natural sweetness to entice even the most finicky fowl. Feed once or twice weekly to stave off boredom & picking or to just spoil your chickens because you can!
Try our cake mixes and make your own cakes! For fun or when you’re away from your chickens for a couple of days for a no-worry long weekend feeding option. A 2lb bag of Cake Mix fits perfectly into a Bundt pan and provides 10 chickens with everything they need for one full day. I also include a couple of recipes for small 4 oz cakes, you can make 8 cakes from every 2lb bag of cake mix.
Chix Mix - Chickens love snacks too! Finding a balanced snack mix isn’t so easy, so I developed this blend of whole grains, greens & animal proteins to accommodate the needs of chickens AND their people! Feed once or twice weekly as part of their balanced diet. Also suitable to make into a cake for a long weekend feeding option while you’re on a quick trip!

Fish Meal - An animal protein supplement to add to your existing feeding program. Do not exceed 5-10% of total feed, to avoid a fishy tasting egg. Perfect for breeders & as a supplement if your current feed only provides soy & other plant proteins. Available in 2lb bags. Serving suggestion: Use a cup of your regular pellets or crumbles, sprinkle a little fish meal powder on top and moisten with water, honey, a little molasses, broth or stock and serve once or twice weekly.

Whole Grains: Flax Seeds, Oat Groats, Wheat Berries - Whole uncracked grains stay fresh for months in a cool preferably dark environment. Use as a supplement, or to create your own special mix for your feathered friends. Serve whole with granite grit or use a coffee grinder to crack what you need for a few days at a time. Offer daily as part of a complete balanced diet. You can order any combination of the following grains to create 2lbs, we will bag each grain separately.

Whole or Cracked Corn is readily available at your local Feed Supply store, which is why we do not offer this product for individual sale through the mail.

Compare my ingredients against other flock snacks, and you’ll see that their main ingredients are Corn, Milo & Barley which are not ideal first choices for our chickens. My snacks have small amounts of corn and are packed with quality ingredients and NO FILLERS! I also do not use any ingredients you can’t pronounce. Only Natural preservatives and ALL of our snack rations have AT LEAST the recommended 14-17% Protein levels recommended for adult chickens. It’s true, my snacks are a little higher in fat that the competitor’s snack, but which of your yummy deserts or snacks don’t have more fat than a plate of broccoli?
